自2021年9月1日开始,香港公开大学 (公大) 已更名为香港都会大学(都大)。

本校自1989年成立以来,今天已发展成为一所现代化的综合型大学,现时约有10,000名全日制本科生、1,900名研究生和8,700名兼职制学生。为配合市场最新趋势及企业需求,大学一直提供具竞争力的专业课程,协助学生规划职业生涯。不少具特色的课程,包括护理、物理治疗、创意艺术、检测和认证、幼儿教育及企业管治等,涵盖多个人才需求甚殷的范畴。在「指定专业/界别课程资助计划」获资助的学额中,都大为自资院校之冠,充分肯定大学在专业教育方面所付出的努力和卓越成就。

我们的教职员致力培育学生的优良学术基础,并透过多元化的实习机会、全球文化沉浸体验计划,以及与企业合作项目,装备他们掌握工作所需技能。因应香港以至整个区域发展,我们积极推动科研,进一步开拓新知识及提升教学质素。

配备崭新及先进设施的香港都会大学赛马会健康护理学院已于2021年1月正式启用。随着新校舍的落成,大学会为教职员和学生营造更理想的环境,促进彼此间的互动。

林群声教授

林群声教授

林群声教授于2021年4月1日成为香港都会大学校长。

 

林教授于1979至1984年就读于香港大学,取得学士及硕士学位;并于1984年获英联邦奖学金赴英国深造,在谢菲尔德大学修读博士学位。及后林教授于伦敦大学国王学院从事博士后研究,并于1988年加入香港城市理工学院担任讲师一职。其后,他在多所大学工作,包括香港中文大学(1990-1992)和澳洲维多利亚科技大学(1992-1994)。他在1994年再次回到香港城市大学化学系(前生物及化学系)工作。

 

林教授是香港高等教育界的先驱,在学术发展及大学行政管理方面具丰富经验。加入公大前,林教授为香港城市大学特别项目总监,并身兼胡梁子慧教授(理学)及化学系讲座教授。自1994年起,他在城大先后担当其他要职,包括署理副校长(本科教育)、副校长(学生事务)、秘书长及海洋污染国家重点实验室主任。

 

身为环境化学、生态毒理学,以及环境风险评估领域的杰出学者及专家,林教授的学术成就超卓,他在生态学和环境评估的研究成果尤其突出,提升了公众的环保意识。他亦开发了一系列新兴污染物的超灵敏检测分析方法;其中,针对关键环境基质中的新兴污染物的痕量分析技术,为协调国际的分析方法作出贡献。其关于新兴污染物的全球分布与环境持久性的研究成果,也影响了世界上很多地方的相关政策与立法。

 

林教授在国际学术期刊以作者或共同作者的身份发表超过400篇文章,主持超过35项环境相关的政府顾问项目,包括有毒污染物对本港鲸豚和水鸟的风险评估。他先后于2011年、2012年及2019年三度获国家教育部颁发自然科学奖(二等奖)。他于2008年获香港特别行政区政府委任为太平绅士,并于2014年获颁授“银紫荆星章”。
