A post-80s deputy head of an elderly home

Carers in elderly homes in Hong Kong are often seniors as well. Cyrus Leung, a young alumnus of the Master of Nursing (Chinese Medicinal Nursing) programme, moved from the hospital to work as a nurse in an elderly home about a decade ago. Now just in his early 30s and already the Assistant Superintendent, Cyrus wishes to bring more vigour into the industry and promote the integration of Chinese and Western medicinal nursing.

Organized by Alumni Affairs Unit, the second and third talks of the 'New Perspective in Career Development' online talk series were held on 8 July and 12 August respectively. Alumnus Keith Lee Hon-choi was invited to speak on 'Management 3.0 – from managing to leading', sharing wisdom and insights derived from his 30 years of experience in management. The last talk of the series was 'From zero to hero! Online marketing strategies for small businesses', alumna Daisy Chow was invited to share tips and updated online marketing strategies for SMEs. On 10 July, the Alumni Affairs Unit organized an engagement event for representatives of the local alumni associations to meet with the senior management of the University. President Prof. Paul Lam Kwan-sing briefed the representatives of various alumni associations on the latest development of the University, and exchanged views on the University retitling and alumni affairs with them. A campus tour of the Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare was conducted after the meeting, showing participants around the new building officially opened in January.

The annual Graduation Show is an important platform for Creative Arts students to showcase their talents and creativities upon completion of a most rewarding learning journey. This year, the exhibition was held from 16 to 26 July and graduates of five programmes showcased over 100 works under the theme 'Recollection of my rough edges'.

The Hong Kong team shone in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Besides supporting Hong Kong athletes, don't forget to cheer for HKMU sports teams as well. The University has become an associate member of the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong in 2016, and is eligible to participate in inter-university sports tournaments since then. This year, two HKMU athletes achieved remarkable results and came second in the Men's Taekwondo (Poomsae) Style 7 & Keumgang and Men's 100m respectively.
