Diploma in Applied Statistics

These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees).

In these regulations definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.

Diploma in Applied Statistics (DAS) (See Note 10)
1. To be eligible for the award of the Diploma in Applied Statistics, a student shall:
  a) comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
  b) comply with the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees); and
  c) obtain at least 60 credits in courses prescribed by the regulations including at least 20 credits from Middle level courses.
2.

For the Diploma in Applied Statistics, the University has prescribed that a student must:

  a) obtain 20 credits from courses labelled FD in Table 1; and
  b) obtain 40 credits from courses labelled CD in Table 1.

Notes:

  1. Courses form excluded combinations with other courses. Only one of the courses of the excluded combinations can count towards an OUHK award. Students should refer to the list of excluded combinations for details.

  2. MATH S101/MATH S111 has been replaced by MATH S121. If students have successfully completed MATH S101/MATH S111, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for MATH S121.
     
  3. MATH S101/MATH S112 has been replaced by MATH S122. If students have successfully completed MATH S101/MATH S112, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for MATH S122.
     
  4. MATH S245/MATH S246/MATH S248 has been replaced by MATH S280. If students have successfully completed MATH S245/MATH S246/MATH S248, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for MATH S280.
     
  5. If students have successfully completed MATH S345, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for MATH S346.
     
  6. If students have successfully completed MATH S343, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for MATH S350.
     
  7. If students have successfully completed MATH S242, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for STAT S242.
     
  8. Courses no longer available.
     
  9. Credits gained in the Diploma can count towards the requirements for the BSc/BSc(Hons) in Statistics and Decision Science, or BSc/BSc(Hons) in Mathematical Studies through articulation of qualifications. However, the 10 credits gained from MATH S242/STAT S242 can only be counted as the free choice credits for BSc/BSc(Hons) in Mathematical Studies.
     
  10. The programme of Diploma in Applied Statistics will be phased out from 2021 Autumn term. The University will continue to confer the award of Diploma in Applied Statistics up to December 2026.
