Student Affairs Office Financial Assistance HKMU Bursary Scheme

The HKMU Bursary Scheme aims to provide financial assistance to full-time local HKMU students who encounter financial difficulties in paying their tuition fees. Grants are provided to needy students whose financial needs are inadequately met by the Government Grants and/or Loans.

Eligibility

  1. Applicants should be local students studying full-time Sub-Degree or Bachelor's Degree Programme;
  2. Applicants should have genuine financial need;
  3. Applicants should have applied for the Government Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP) or the Non-means-tested Loan Scheme for Post-secondary Students (NLSPS) in the current academic year. [Remarks: Special approval may be considered for students who are not eligible for FASP (e.g. aged > 30).]; and
  4. Continuing students should attain a minimum CGPA of 2.0 or above*.

* Records of CGPA and grades would be based on the official transcript of studies generated by the University at the time of bursary assessment.

Number and Amount of Bursaries

Approximately 400 bursaries will be available in the 2025/26 Academic Year. The value of each bursary usually ranges from $5,000 to $15,000.

Assessment Criteria and Announcement of Result

  1. Assessment will be made and considered by the HKMU Student Financial Awards Committee. The level of assistance is determined by the applicants' financial circumstances, the funds available and other factors that the Committee considers necessary.
  2. Eligible applicants are not guaranteed to be offered bursaries.
  3. The result and disbursement arrangement will be announced via HKMU email in late March 2026.

How to Apply

  1. Pease read the “Guidance Notes to Applicants” [FBU (2025/26) Guide-e] before completing the online application form.
  2. Applicants should submit the online application together with the required supporting documents via the student portal “MyHKMU” (http://www.hkmu.edu.hk/myhkmu).
  3. The application period is from 24 November 2025 (Monday) to 19 December 2025 (Friday).
