The Bachelor of Education with Honours (Chinese Language Teaching) and Bachelor of Language Studies with Honours (Applied Chinese Language Studies) programme encourages students to take active part in writing competitions in order to brush up their writing skills. Year 3 student Kris Lam Hoi-ching entered the Hong Kong School Writing Competition 2023 organised by the International Children Culture & Arts Development Association with an essay for one of the set topics, ‘The … I love” (「我愛的……」). The entry was judged as excellent in terms of topic delivery, expression skills, structure and grammar, and was given a Gold Award.

With the mission of inspiring interests and helping to build confidence by giving everyone a chance to participate and realise their dreams, the International Children Culture & Arts Development Association organises an array of competitions to spark children’s creative passion and interest in art, and cultivate their creativity and confidence. To promote cultural and artistic exchange, some of its competitions also include an Open Division.

Kris then followed up this achievement by claiming second runner up place in the Chinese Open Group of the 2024 Global Creative Mastery Art Writing Competition organised by the Global Creative Art Exchange Association.
