Strategic Plan 2019 – 2023

 

In early 2019, the University rolled out a Strategic Plan with the theme ‘striving to nurture, transforming the future’. Covering 2019–2023, the plan provides a blueprint of development in the areas of teaching, student learning experience, research, campus expansion and administration.

Strategic Goals and Areas of Priority

The Plan has identified five areas of priority through which to pursue these goals:

Premier quality teaching

  • Adopting innovative pedagogies and fostering a collaborative teaching environment
  •  Emphasising student-centred teaching and learning
  •  Reviewing the current curriculum while developing new programmes in collaboration with industry, including taught Master’s programmes

A rewarding and fulfilling learning experience

  • Enhancing student engagement and development by strengthening academic advising and student mentoring, developing a peer mentorship scheme and integrating extra-curricular activities into the undergraduate curriculum
  • Broadening students’ real-world exposure by expanding exchange and internship opportunities, encouraging participation in competitions, and leveraging the alumni network

Research capacity enhancement

  • Encouraging research in strategic niche areas through support and incentives
  • Enriching research postgraduate programmes and developing an international research network

A welcoming campus for student learning

  • Building the new Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare into a harmonious, vibrant and environmentally-friendly campus
  • Optimising the utilisation of space and exploring sites for further expansion
  • Exploring future possibilities such as shared use of facilities, introduction of smart technology and provision of residential facilities

Excellence in administration and governance

  • Streamlining administrative functions
  • Nurturing a service mindset and a performance culture
  • Upholding prudent management practices
  • Enhancing the quality of governance
