“Date a CEO” Mentorship Programme

Background

The Student Affairs Office (SAO) of the Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) and the Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council (HKYIC) have cooperated for many years in the field of student development. In addition to co-organising the “YIC x OUHK Internship Programme in Newly Industrialised Country – Vietnam” since 2017, we also jointly organised different industry sharings and local internship projects, which to provide students with diversified development opportunities and allow them to have a deeper understanding of Hong Kong’s industrial development.
To this end, SAO proudly launches the “Date a CEO” Mentorship Programme, on the one hand, to strengthen the cooperation with HKYIC, and at the same time, to encourage our students to learn from the leaders of the local industry in a more lively and diversified way. Students can understand different kinds of management knowledge and be cultivated to become future management talents with a macro vision.

Purposes

  • Inspire students to identify their career path;
  • Cultivate students' various soft skills such as communication skills, organisational skills and leadership skills;
  • Promote industrial development and various opportunities in the Greater Bay Area; and
  • Cultivate students with a management sense in a macro perspective

Event Highlights

Close Interaction with CEOs —DIY Workshops (13-14 May 2025)

In collaboration with the Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council (HKYIC), SAO successfully hosted two engaging DIY workshops. A special thank you to our three CEO mentors: Ms. Louisa Kwok, Executive Director and CEO of Kwonnie Electrical Products Limited; Dr. Wayne Yu, Executive Director of Town Ray Holdings Limited; and Mr. Nicholas Lai, General Manager (South China) of Pro-Technic Machinery Ltd. They generously took time from their busy schedules to join us at the university, guiding students in creating handmade LED lights and writing minibus signs by hand. During the event, the CEO mentors shared their career journeys and insights into their successes, helping students gain a better understanding of industrial development. This exchange not only ignited students’ interest in the industry but also provided them with clearer direction for their future careers.
