There will be an admission interview for selected applicants satisfying the admission requirements.
This programme considers applicants' health-related working experience, no matter it is paid or unpaid in nature. However, applicants should have fulfilled the entry requirements before they can be considered for admission.
We consider applicants' academic performance, any related working experience and interview performance.
The programme commences in September in each academic year.
The tuition fee depends on the number of credits and the level of courses taken in that academic year. Please refer to the university website for details. Students can apply financial assistance through the Working Family and the Student Financial Assistance Agency of the Hong Kong Government.

General nursing practice mainly focuses on taking care of the clients who have physical health problems. By providing professional nursing interventions, psychosocial support and comfortable environment, nurses can facilitate client rehabilitation, health promotion and disease prevention. General nursing practice can be further divided into different specialties such as surgical nursing, medical nursing, paediatric nursing, geriatric nursing and oncology nursing.

Psychiatric nursing practice mainly focuses on taking care of the clients who have mental health problems. By providing professional nursing interventions and therapeutic environment, nurses can also facilitate client rehabilitation, health promotion and disease prevention. Psychiatric nursing practice can be further divided into different specialties such as psychiatric child and adolescent nursing, psychiatric adult nursing, psychogeriatric nursing, forensic psychiatric nursing and community psychiatric nursing.

Provided students are working hard, they can cope with the study load. The Language Centre of HKMU can offer assistance to students in English learning. Please refer to HKMU library for details.

Students in the practicum have irregular duty hours, shift duty and night duty. The duty pattern is arranged by the hospital/clinical venue.
Most of our graduates are employed under Hospital Authority, Private Hospitals, non-Government Organizations etc. Academically, they will also pursuit in higher degrees.

All the students should enter the programme in the first study year, irrespective of their background. Students should have successfully completed the five-year programme before they can get the academic and professional qualification.
According to the admission policy of the university and the requirements set by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong, this programme only considers applicants who have fulfilled the entry requirements.
