HKMU students recognised as “Ten Outstanding University Students 2025”

Two students from the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) have been recognised for their exceptional achievements in academics, social service and leadership. Dr Shawn Shao Dong, Acting Head of the Department of Creative Arts and Assistant Professor in the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Hong Kong Metropolitan University, has been shortlisted for the final selection of the “Blancpain-Imaginist Literary Prize 2025” with his newly published short story collection, The Unlocked Man. Staff papers win recognition at major creative writing conference

Two faculty members of the School of Arts and Social Sciences won awards for papers they presented at the ninth Annual Conference of Chinese Creative Writing, one of the largest academic conferences on Chinese-language creative writing in China. Dr Shawn Shao Dong, Acting Head of Creative Arts and Assistant Professor, received a First-Class Award for a piece analysing the narrative in Black Myth: Wukongm, an action role-playing game adapted from the classic novel Journey to the West, while Assistant Professor Dr Benson Tong Tsz-ben's discussion of Chinese communication under the lens of creative writing was recognised with a Second-Class Award....

HKMU was given the JC VOLUNTEER TOGETHER Caring School label for 2023 under Hong Kong Volunteer Award, an award scheme co-organised by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Agency for Volunteer Service. Dr Benson Tong Tsz-ben, an Assistant Professor of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, earlier participated in an international competition of modern Chinese poetry organised by the International Contemporary Chinese Poetry Study Association.
