Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) has advanced by over 100 places for the second consecutive year in the latest QS Asia University Rankings 2026, released by international higher education organisation Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The University is now ranked among Asia's top 400 universities, rising to 393rd position, a significant leap of over 140 places compared to the previous year.

Since its first appearance in the Asia University Rankings in 2023, HKMU has made steady progress each year. This latest achievement not only reaffirms the growing recognition of the University's academic quality within the global academic community, but also serves as an encouraging milestone for all members of HKMU. Looking ahead, the University will continue to enhance its performance in key areas such as internationalisation, academic reputation, research impact and graduate employability, while maintaining rigorous global standards.

Earlier in June, HKMU also made its debut in the QS World University Rankings 2026, ranking in the 781–790 range. This marked a first for Hong Kong's self-financing institutions and universities of applied sciences (UAS). As Hong Kong's first UAS, HKMU remains committed to responding to market trends and industry needs, offering high-quality professional programmes, advancing applied research, expanding industry and international collaboration, and attracting outstanding students from around the world. Through these sustained efforts, the University is dedicated to supporting Hong Kong's development as an international hub for post-secondary education and nurturing top-tier professionals for Hong Kong and beyond.
