The Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) named two nursing teaching facilities as “Eddy C Fong Nursing Skills Education Unit” and “Eddy C Fong CNEC Preparation Room” today (9 December) in recognition of the generous donation from Dr Eddy C Fong for supporting the university development.

Dr Eddy C Fong served as a Member and Treasurer of the University Council and then took up its chairmanship from 2009 to 2016. Under his leadership, he made remarkable contributions to raising funds for the campus development projects. He is currently a Member of Court and a Member of the Sponsorship & Development Fund Committee of HKMU, sparing no effort in fostering the university development. In 2017, Dr Fong was conferred the Honorary Doctorate by the University in recognition of his outstanding achievements.

President Prof. Paul Lam Kwan-sing expressed his gratitude to Dr Fong on behalf of all members of HKMU community for his staunch support which had enhanced the diversified development of the University. His generous donation not only helps HKMU offer quality education, but also creates an ideal learning environment for students.

“Eddy C Fong Nursing Skills Education Unit” is located on the seventh floor of the Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare. Equipped with patient models and basic nursing care equipment, the named Unit is set up as an authentic ward to create a clinical training environment for students. Situated on the same floor, the “Eddy C Fong CNEC Preparation Room” is a place to prepare teaching equipment, teaching aids, simulators and medications for teaching activities. With the other nursing laboratories that incorporated the learning elements of general, mental and Chinese medicinal nursing, HKMU is committed to offering students a holistic learning environment and nurturing them to become healthcare talents.
