Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) will hold its JUPAS Consultation Day 2026 on 16 May (Saturday) from 1 to 6 pm at its campus in Ho Man Tin. The event is designed to provide JUPAS applicants with the latest programme information. Students, parents, teachers and members of the public are warmly invited to attend the event.

Consultation Day aims to guide students on their academic path

The Consultation Day will feature a rich array of activities. The HKMU Registry will host an Undergraduate Admissions Talk to introduce the latest admissions information and application strategies and answer questions about programmes on the spot. Student representatives will share their campus life experience and provide interview tips to help prospective applicants prepare effectively.

Programme talks, on-site consultations, taster classes, graduate sharing sessions, and tours of facilities such as laboratories and studios will be organised by HKMU's five academic schools: the School of Arts and Social Sciences (A&SS), the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration (B&A), the School of Education and Languages (E&L), the School of Nursing and Health Sciences (N&HS), and the School of Science and Technology (S&T). These activities will ensure that applicants fully understand the admission requirements and features of the programmes, while also giving them a taste of the vibrant campus learning atmosphere.

New scholarships help broaden students' global perspectives

In early 2026, HKMU introduced a new “Minor in Global Studies”, enabling undergraduate students to study abroad for one semester at partner institutions around the world, thereby broadening their global perspectives. Partner institutions include universities in countries such as Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Finland and South Korea. The University has set up a scholarship fund of HK$4.5 million annually, providing 100 scholarships for students participating in overseas exchange and learning experiences.

HKMU also offers various scholarships to reward new students with outstanding academic achievements or exceptional talent. Students who attain 5* or 5** in any subject under Category A in the 2026 HKDSE and are admitted to the University through JUPAS will receive a scholarship of HK$40,000 for each subject. The University also provides a variety of entrance scholarships, with amounts of up to HK$120,000 each for JUPAS applicants and outstanding athletes.

Nurturing professionals with knowledge and practical skills

As a university of applied sciences (UAS), HKMU offers programmes that combine theory and practice. The University places great emphasis on close collaboration with professional sectors and industries, incorporating rich internships and hands-on learning opportunities into its curricula. This equips graduates with the knowledge and skills needed for a seamless transition to the workforce.

HKMU is the only self-financed university in Hong Kong granted self-accrediting status, enabling it to flexibly offer programmes that align with market needs. The University will offer the following two new undergraduate programmes in the 2026/27 academic year:

  • Bachelor of Science with Honours in Diagnostic Radiography – This programme features a unique bachelor-master design (4+1 years). Graduates of the bachelor’s programme will be eligible to apply for registration as diagnostic radiographers, while those who complete the master’s programme can apply for registration as sonographers.
  • Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours in Robotics and Automation Engineering – This programme focuses on hands-on applications of robotics and automation engineering, integrating theoretical and practical training, and providing students with extensive internship and career-oriented learning experiences.

Additional subsidies for applied degree programmes

In terms of tuition fee subsidies, 21 of the 49 JUPAS programmes offered by HKMU in the 2026/27 academic year are funded under the Government's Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP).

The annual subsidy for laboratory-based programmes is set at $81,450, while non-laboratory-based programmes will receive $46,780. Ten of these programmes have been accredited as applied degree programmes, making them eligible for additional subsidies. Together with the SSSDP subsidy, the total annual amounts will be $89,620 for laboratory-based programmes and $51,880 for non-laboratory-based programmes.

The remaining 28 programmes fall under the Government's Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme (NMTSS), under which eligible local students receive an annual subsidy of HK$35,120.
