In celebration of the 28th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) held a flag-raising ceremony on its Jockey Club Campus this morning (1 July). Nearly 100 HKMU members, including Council members, University management, staff and students, attended the ceremony to express their wishes for Hong Kong's continued prosperity and stability.

Ir Dr Conrad Wong Tin-cheung, HKMU Council Chairman, Prof. Paul Lam Kwan-sing, HKMU President, and other senior management took the opportunity to interact with students and share HKMU's latest achievements. Prof. Lam encouraged students to stay devoted to our homeland and equip themselves to contribute to both Hong Kong and the country. “Recently, the University made its debut in the world university rankings,” he said. “This recognition is the result of the collective efforts of the HKMU community and reflects the University's commitment to maintaining international standards in teaching, research and faculty quality. Looking ahead, HKMU will continue to leverage its strengths to nurture competitive professionals, driving the development of Hong Kong and making a greater contribution to the prosperity of both the city and our country.”

To cultivate students' national consciousness and promote national education, the University raises the national flag on campus daily and holds flag-raising ceremonies every Monday morning and on other important occasions, such as New Year's Day, HKSAR Establishment Day and National Day.
