Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hong Yip Holdings Limited (Hong Yip) today (18 January) to strengthen their partnership and co-operation.

The MOU was signed by HKMU Council Chairman Ir Dr Conrad Wong Tin-cheung and Hong Yip Chairman and Chief Executive Ir Alkin Kwong Ching-wai. HKMU and Hong Yip will deepen their collaboration in curriculum design and implementation, student internships and career development, applied research, service learning, mentorship programmes, and development projects for students' capstone work.

At the signing ceremony, Ir Dr Wong said, “HKMU is committed to offering top quality professional programmes that are tailored to meet industry needs and provide students with clear career paths.” He added that HKMU will further strengthen its ties with various industries to nurture future talent together.

Ir Kwong remarked, “Hong Yip, sharing the same core value with HKMU, has always been supporting the diversified development of local university students and promoting innovative technology advancement. This MOU facilitates a deeper and more diversified cooperation between Hong Yip and HKMU to work together for the better future of the young generation, nurturing talent for the industry and bringing a new momentum to Hong Kong in the long run.”

Over the years, HKMU has been working closely with Hong Yip. Three of the University's Schools previously signed MOUs with Hong Yip Service Co Ltd. HKMU has been offering training courses for Hong Yip on sports and recreation management, civil and building services engineering, and property management, and Hong Yip has been providing internship and management training opportunities for HKMU students in its shopping malls and residential buildings. The new agreement will deepen the relationship between HKMU and Hong Yip and reflects the determination of both parties to explore more innovative ideas for collaboration.

The MOU is signed by HKMU Council Chairman Ir Dr Conrad Wong Tin-cheung and Chairman and Chief Executive of Hong Yip Ir Alkin Kwong Ching-wai.
