Record number of HKMU students awarded Link University Scholarship

A record 13 students from Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) were awarded the Link University Scholarship 2025/26, including one student who has achieved this honour for the third consecutive year. The recipients were selected from over 1,500 applicants, in recognition of their academic excellence and dedication to community service.

The presentation ceremony was held on 24 January. Prof. Ricky Kwok Yu-kwong, HKMU Vice President (Research and Institutional Advancement), congratulated the awardees and noted that it is truly encouraging to see a record number of HKMU students receiving this recognition. He added that this reflected the University's commitment to nurturing talent, fostering a culture of academic excellence and promoting community engagement, while supporting students in unleashing their potential beyond limits.

So Kwun-wang, a Year 4 Physiotherapy student, is deeply engaged in volunteer work and aspires to give back to society through his professional skills. Expressing his gratitude for receiving the scholarship for the third time, he said, “I am truly honoured. This scholarship provides essential financial support, allowing me to focus on my studies, clinical internships and volunteer work. The Link Scholars Alumni Scheme has also expanded my social network and horizons.”

Another awardee, Ho Yan-tung, a Year 2 student in Sports and eSports Management, is dedicated to community service. This marks her first time receiving the scholarship, and she shared how it has made a difference for her: “This programme has been an invaluable experience. It offers a variety of activities that foster creativity, collaboration and personal growth. I have connected with many inspiring peers and enhanced my teamwork skills.”

Established in 2015, the Link University Scholarship aims to reduce barriers to education by providing non-means-tested scholarships to outstanding local Hong Kong students who are the first in three generations of their families to attend university in Hong Kong.

Each awardee will receive HK$20,000 and become a member of the Link Scholars Alumni Scheme, which provides networking opportunities, community service initiatives and professional training.
