Early Industry Engagement

Apart from running initiatives of training workshops and practitioners sharing sessions to equip students with the basics of career preparation, much of our efforts is devoted to promoting early industry engagement in the curriculum and cultivating students' work exposure to stand them in good stead in today's increasingly competitive job market.

The School has been working closely with local and international organizations to offer internship and placement opportunities to students, allowing them to acquire valuable on-the-job training as well as an in-depth understanding of their field of profession outside the academic setting. These programmes are designed to help students identify their passion and interest in career options and facilitate their career path advancement early in the university studies. During the process, students will also be exposed to different roles and opportunities arising in the rapidly developing business fields, thus enabling them to better manage their job expectation and make informed career decisions by the time they graduate. Students are therefore highly encouraged to start preparing themselves by seeking these industry engagement opportunities.

Internship Programmes

The most common type of internships include Spring and Summer Internships, both of which last typically for eight to twelve weeks. Students who participate in the Spring Internship would suspend their study for one term and immerse completely at a local company of their chosen field. Participants may resume their study in the Summer Term of the same year to ensure they would graduate without any delay. On the other hand, the Summer Internship offers students an intensive exposure to career options across a number of sectors in summer.

Successful internship experiences would not only enrich students' professional profile and help erase their preconceptions about the industries, but also open up promising career prospects for our students. Some of the leading companies/organisations that have offered full-time internship positions to our students include:

Management Trainee Programme

The School actively solicits training opportunities for our hospitality-related programmes through our strong industry connections and rapport. Under the Management Trainee Programme, students were taken out of the classroom setting to gain hands-on experience in the operations of hospitality industry for a minimum duration of nine months (three summers + one autumn / spring terms). The training requires students to integrate the skills and knowledge, and sharpens their communications and management skills to excel at various positions. We believe this constant exposure to their future work environment and the vast personal network built through the programme would open up their career prospects, and eventually, nurture an exclusive talent pool for the hospitality industry.
