Chinese (Cantonese) Opera Translation and Operatic Culture International Conference

是次會議匯聚本地及國際學者，探討中國戲曲在不同語言與文化之間的傳播、轉化與存續。會議旨在促進學術交流以及跨學科對話，推動中國戲曲與戲劇研究的發展會議以文學、社會及人文視角為基礎，探討改編、文本翻譯以至唱詞翻譯等如何影響中國戲曲在海內外的流播。

 

整個會議議程聚焦翻譯研究、身份建構及跨文化等議題，會議分成三部分：（一）熊式一 —— 從譯者到劇壇先驅的發展歷程；（二）粵劇走向國際舞台所面臨的挑戰與可持續發展問題；以及（三）中國戲曲從亞洲傳播至北美的文化傳承。

The Conference brings together local and international scholars to explore how Chinese operatic texts travel, transform and endure across languages and cultures. The Conference provides a focused platform for academic exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue and future collaborations in Chinese opera and theatre studies.

 

The programme is organized around three thematic panels: (1) Hsiung Shih-I's journey from translator to theatre pioneer; (2) the challenges and sustainability issues of bringing Cantonese opera to the global stage; and (3) the Cultural Transmission of Chinese Theatre: from Asia to North America.
