Seminar on coastal wetland research and management

The School of Science and Technology organized the Seminar on Coastal Wetland Research and Management on 3 September 2021, bringing experts in the field together to provide updates on their work. Guest speakers included Dr Carmen Or from WWF-Hong Kong, Prof. Joe Lee from the School of Life Sciences of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Ms Xu Wansu from Mangrove Wetland Conservation Foundation, Prof. Chen Luzhen from the College of Environment and Ecology of Xiamen University, and Prof. Simon Lee from the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences of the University of Macau.

Fostering dual career pathways for elite athletes

The University and the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 25 October 2021 to offer flexible and diversified learning support for full-time elite athletes to realize dual development in sports and academics. The MOU was
signed by President Prof. Paul Lam Kwan-sing and Dr Trisha Leahy, Chief Executive of the HKSI, as well as witnessed by Provost Prof. Reggie Kwan Ching-ping and Mr Ron Lee Chung-man, Director of Community Relations and Marketing of the HKSI.

The forum will be broadcast in the new TV series Knowledge for All.

Metropolitan CHRO Hong Kong Forum

On 9 September 2021, the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration (B&A) organized the Metropolitan CHRO Hong Kong Forum: New Talent,
New Paradigm and New Era. Four industry experts — Mr Wilfred Wong, Managing Director of RESOLUTIONS HR & Business Consultancy Co. Ltd., Mr Andy Luk, Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Communications, Asia of Informa Markets, Mr Peter Koo, APAC Leader of IT and Specialized Assurance/Service of Deloitte, and Ms Eliza Ng, Chief People and Culture Officer of the Hong Kong Productivity Council — were invited to share their views on the human resource challenges in this new era and exchange ideas on practices to attract new talent in the future. The forum was moderated by Prof. Randy Chiu, B&A Visiting Professor and Professor Emeritus of the Department of Management at Hong Kong Baptist University, drawing over 200 practitioners and academics to participate in person or online.
