Details:
With the commencement of the spring term, master's students in creative writing have been enthusiastically putting their skills into practice, and their writing experiments have been met with appreciation.

Du Lan's short story “Visiting Relatives” (走親戚) was published in the first issue of 2024 of Young Writers. It tells of a decadent hunter named Zha La Feng, who willy-nilly indulges himself in the lust of plump women, to the point of almost being burnt down by his exasperated wife. Deep down, however, his only solace is in the fond memories of his first love. Lan was also invited to contribute an article on this creative piece titled “Tearing off Something from Meaning” (從意義中剝離出一些東西), published in the same issue.

Fu Wei received a number of accolades with several poetry sequences in late 2023 and early 2024, including the Longmen Award in the Second Bai Juyi Poetry Prize and the Second Class Award associated with the call for submission to the poetry anthology Yangtze River — Poems of College Students (長江.大學生之歌). In addition, his poems, including “Crossing the Harbour” (過海), “Sea between Trees” (樹隙間的海) and “Unrelated” (無關), in which he attempts to digest his new cultural experiences of living and learning in Hong Kong, were published in the first issue of 2024 of Poetry Monthly.

Sha Xiantong is also featured in the same issue of Poetry Monthly with his “Reasons of Writing” (寫作的理由), a sequence of poems depicting objects in his room as a way of polishing his everyday memories as well as creating new language experiences. Another poem by him, “Aerial Garden” (空中花園) was accepted by Voice and Verse Poetry Magazine for publication in issue 75.
