[Application Now Open!]

With the gradual resumption of social and economic activities recently, Student Affairs Office (SAO) decides to launch the Global Internship Scheme (GIS) in 2023 to provide subsidy supports to students who have successfully completed the SAO recognized global internship programmes.   • enable students to immerse in different culture and environment to enhance their global outlook;

  • provide valuable experiential learning opportunities to students to articulate their studies to the real working world; and

  • hone students’ communication skills and soft skills related to workplace.

HK$5,000 – HK$20,000 each, which is dependent on the internship structure and duration, destination, programme fee and availability of remuneration/sponsorship of the internship opportunities, to an awardee who has successfully completed a recognized global internship and has fulfilled all Scheme requirements. Please note that the subsidy will be given to eligible students as part of financial support and it does not intend to cover all student internship costs.   • Once the application has been approved by the Scheme authority, no change of internship programme will be allowed unless special approval has been sought;

  • Awardees of this Scheme may also apply for other subsidies from funding sources outside the University in the same year, e.g. Reaching Out Award offered by Hong Kong Government [LINK];

  • The Scheme authority has full discretion in determining the subsidy level of each application and rejecting applications. Students should not presume that your application must be successful before receiving the official approval from the Scheme authority; and

  • Outstanding applicants will be considered by the David Chan Outbound Internship Award which offers two quotas in 2023 summer. The award amount is set at ceiling of HK$25,000 each on a reimbursement basis. Similar to GIS, awardees will be required to submit the same set of documents with all expense receipts to SAO by 30 September 2023. Expenses will be reimbursed after received and verified the required documents from the awardees. The reimbursable expenses include air tickets, local transportation, accommodation and other living expenses incurred during the internship. However, please note that the selected applicant will be awarded either the David Chan Outbound Internship Award OR the GIS in the same year. In other words, an applicant will not be awarded both subsidies simultaneously.
