HKMU welcomes LegCo approval of a HK$1.3 billion loan for new campus development

Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) welcomes the approval of a HK$1,317.48 million loan by Finance Committee of the Legislative Council (LegCo) today (19 September) to the University under the Start-up Loan Scheme for post-secondary education providers, from the Loan Fund. HKMU secures over HK$33 million in RGC research funding, leading self-financing institutions with over 37% of the total allocation

In the latest round of the Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector of the Research Grants Council (RGC), Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) secured over HK$33.42 million for 47 projects, amounting to over 37.1% of the total RGC allocation. HKMU ranked first among all local self-financing institutions in terms of both funding amount and the number of projects for the third consecutive year, demonstrating the excellence of the University's faculty in research and innovation....

HKMU continues to lead funded programmes and places under the SSSDP among self-financing institutions, with all 10 Applied Degree programmes granted places

Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) has been granted 1,891 subsidised places across 21 programmes for the 2026/27 academic year under the latest round of the Education Bureau (EDB)'s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) for undergraduate programmes. This includes 1,177 places for 10 Applied Degree (APD) programmes. HKMU continued to secure the highest number of funded programmes and places among the eight participating self-financing institutions....

HKMU's JUPAS Band A applications surge by 21%, reflecting its growing popularity and recognition driven by professional and practical programmes

The final modification period for the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) concluded last Saturday (19 July). Following the release of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) results, applications for Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) programmes listed as the top three choices (Band A) have increased for the fourth consecutive year, reaching nearly 18,000, a significant 21% rise compared to that of last year. The number of both applicants and applications for HKMU programmes surged by 10%, reflecting the University's growing recognition and popularity among students and educators....
