Dr Lam Ching-choi at HKMU's Talk of the Metropolis: Advocating mental health education across the education sector and building tiered support from campus to workplace

Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) hosted its first “Talk of Metropolis” of the year today, featuring Dr the Honourable Lam Ching-choi, GBS, JP, Member of the Executive Council of the HKSAR Government and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Mental Health , as the keynote speaker. Under the theme “The Pursuit of Happiness: Why mental health is everyone's business”, Dr Lam encouraged the audience to look after their own well-being, show empathy towards others, and help foster a caring, connecting and trusting campus culture....

HKMU Talk of the Metropolis by Dr Joyce Mok Wing-si: raising awareness of infant mental health

Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) held its fourth “Talk of the Metropolis” of the year today (6 November), featuring Dr Joyce Mok Wing-si, President of the Hong Kong Association for Infant Mental Health. In her talk, titled “From Cradle to Connection: Infant Mental Health in Hong Kong”, Dr Mok shared her clinical experience and research findings with over 200 HKMU students, staff, alumni and members of the public in an accessible manner, with the aim of raising awareness among caregivers and society about the importance of early childhood mental health....

HKMU and AMS Join Hands to Nurture Medical Ambassadors to promote medical and public health in the community

HKMU's mental health first aid course raises confidence in over 90% of students in identifying mental health risk factors and supporting their peers

The first round of a 12-hour mental health first aid (MHFA) course at Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) showed encouraging results. The course evaluation survey indciates that over 90% of students reported increased confidence in identifying mental health risk factors and supporting others with mental health challenges. To implement “train the trainer” approach, the first batch of faculty members and staff have completed their training and become course instructors, further enhancing the University's capacity to identify and address students' mental health needs....

HKMU physiotherapy programme receives professional accreditation; graduates are qualified to practise as registered physiotherapists

Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) has officially received professional accreditation from the Physiotherapists Board of the Supplementary Medical Professions Council (SMPC) for its four-year Bachelor of Science with Honours in Physiotherapy programme, which was launched in 2020 to meet strong demand for healthcare professionals in Hong Kong. The first cohort of graduates are now qualified to practise as registered physiotherapists in Hong Kong and can apply for full membership in the Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association....
