Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) successfully hosted its annual Career Fair from 18 to 20 March, with the participation of over 130 enterprises and organisations from more than 30 industries. The fair offered more than 3,500 professional jobs and internship opportunities in Hong Kong and the rest of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to HKMU students, supporting them in planning their future career paths.
As the first university of applied sciences in Hong Kong, HKMU is committed to providing students with a top-tier professional education and enhancing their professional competencies. To this end, under the theme “Nurturing Career-ready HKMU Students”, this year's Career Fair featured a “Professional Bodies” area for the first time. Professional bodies from various industries, such as banking, corporate governance, insurance, human resources, and testing and certification, were invited to offer students diverse career choices.
This year's Career Fair also included a new designated area, named “GBA Opportunities”. The Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and a number of non-profit organisations were invited to promote internship and entrepreneurial opportunities in the Mainland, encouraging students to gain quality internship and entrepreneurial experience in the region, broaden their exposure, and gain a deeper understanding of national development.
The Career Fair also continued to organise designated recruitment days, featuring sectors such as “Business and Management”, “Engineering, Science and Technology” and “Social Impact and Professional Services”. Well-known brands and organisations, including Cyberport, UNIQLO, Hong Kong Tramways and Sushiro, joined the event for the first time. Other participating companies spanned sectors such as healthcare, aviation, hospitality, theme parks and media. Overseas job opportunities were also included.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Paul Lam Kwan-sing, HKMU President, expressed his gratitude to all the supporting companies and welcomed the participation of employers from a broader range of sectors this year, reflecting the strong recognition of HKMU students' reputation and capabilities in society. “HKMU is committed to providing students with a quality education and supporting them in achieving meaningful careers,” he said. “Through continuous exploration and deepening collaboration with various industries, the University aims to bridge academic learning and professional practice, helping students pursue fulfilling careers, achieve long-term success and contribute to society.”
The annual HKMU Career Fair aims to provide students with the latest hiring market information and opportunities to connect with potential employers across diverse industries to enhance their career readiness. The event also featured walk-in interviews, career talks, a free CV Clinic and professional portrait taking to help students equip themselves for their ideal careers.
