Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) held a flag-raising ceremony on campus this morning to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. HKMU Council Chairman Ir Dr Conrad Wong Tin-cheung, President Prof. Paul Lam Kwan-sing, and about 200 members of the HKMU community, including Council members, management, staff and students, attended the ceremony. Together, they shared a moment of pride and unity, celebrated the country's remarkable achievements, and expressed their heartfelt wishes for its continued prosperity.

Sharing their excitement and joy, Ir Dr Wong, Prof. Lam and others engaged in conversations with students, encouraging them to remain devoted to the homeland and to actively equip themselves to contribute to both Hong Kong and the country.

Prof. Lam said, “We take great pride in our country's impressive achievements on all fronts. Under 'one country, two systems', Hong Kong has the distinctive advantages of enjoying strong support from the motherland while being closely connected to the world. As a university of applied sciences in Hong Kong, the University will deepen collaboration with institutions and enterprises both in the Chinese Mainland and overseas, fostering industry-education collaboration and joint promotion. We strive to support the city's development into an international hub for post-secondary education and cultivate professionals with virtue and talent for Hong Kong and the country.”

To cultivate students' national affection and promote national education, the University raises the national flag on campus daily and holds flag-raising ceremonies every Monday morning, as well as on other important occasions, such as National Day, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day and New Year's Day, with active participation from staff and students.
