In response to the latest trends of social development, the Department of Creative Arts (School of Arts and Social Sciences) at Hong Kong Metropolitan University of strives to train highly skilled professionals for the creative industry. According to the “Report on Manpower Projection to 2022” released by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2015, the cultural and creative industries in the city will continue to thrive in the years ahead. Hence, the demand for innovative experts in the fields of creative writing, film production, TV production, advertising & media design, photography, visual design, animation, and visual effects is expected to accelerate. In light of this, our department is committed to developing effective programmes that address the specific needs of the society. It was also the first 4-year Bachelor's degree programme designed particularly for training creative writing professionals in Hong Kong. In subsequent years, our department continued to launch three additional programmes including Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours in Cinematic Design and Photographic Digital Art, Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours in Animation and Visual Effects as well as Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Creative Advertising and Media Design. All these programmes have gained great popularity in the society and among students.
