宋明煒教授是衛斯理學院東亞語言與文化系的宋美齡講座教授及系主任，曾任美國比較華文文學學會（ACCL）會長。他的研究領域包括現代中文科幻小說、晚清及民國時期的青春敘事與成長小說，以及張愛玲的生平與作品。他的研究項目聚焦於當代華語小說中的後人類理論與「新巴洛克」美學。他著有多部專著，包括《看的恐懼：中國科幻小說詩學》、《少年中國：國族青春重塑與成長小說（1900-1959）》以及《浮世的悲哀：張愛玲傳》。
Professor Song Mingwei is the Mayling Soong Professor of Chinese and the Chair of the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Wellesley College. He was the former President of the Association of Chinese and Comparative Literature (ACCL). His research projects include contemporary Chinese science fiction, the discourse of youth and the Bildungsroman in late Qing and Republican China, and the life and work of Eileen Chang. His research project focuses on the posthuman and the “Neo-Baroque” in contemporary Sinophone fiction. He is the author of several monographs, including Fear of Seeing: A Poetics of Chinese Science Fiction, Young China: National Rejuvenation and the Bildungsroman, 1900-1959, and The Sorrows of a Floating World: a Biography of Eileen Chang.
