Academic schools & division
The OUHK has five academic schools. Among them, the School of Arts & Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business & Administration, School of Education & Languages and School of Science & Technology offer programmes and courses at various academic levels in distance learning, full-time, part-time face-to-face and online modes of study, while the Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional & Continuing Education (LiPACE) specializes in providing professional programmes, workplace training programmes, community learning projects and short courses. In addition, the Division of Nursing & Health Studies under the School of Science & Technology provides quality nursing and healthcare education to meet society’s needs.
With the mission of promoting lifelong learning, the Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional and Continuing Education (LiPACE) offers diverse quality programmes in a wide range of areas, including arts and culture, languages, finance, business administration, healthcare and social sciences, to name but a few.
LiPACE prides itself on programme innovation and flexibility. Many of its programmes are trendsetters and the first of their kinds in Hong Kong. To achieve such positive outcomes, it relies not only on staff members who are well-versed in the market needs, but also on a strategy of academic-industry partnerships. Through partnerships with leading professional bodies and overseas institutions, programmes often integrate both theoretical and practical perspectives, providing students with an all-round learning experience. Among the innovative programmes launched in the past year were the Higher Diploma in Resort & Theme Park Management, jointly with Hong Kong Disneyland, and the Certificate in Intense Pulsed Light Equipment Operation, the first to be offered in a professional certificate series in cosmetic light therapy.
LiPACE is committed to putting the young generation on track towards a brighter future and offers them full-time face-to-face programmes at levels of Yi Jin, diploma, higher diploma and degree. On the other hand, it holds on to the belief that continuing education is not only for the youth or working adults, and organizes community learning projects such as the Capacity Building Mileage Programme, the Elder Academy and Lifelong Learning Seminars, to provide unique learning platforms for women, the elderly and the public to address their individual learning needs.
