Lee Shau Kee School of Business & Administration
The Lee Shau Kee School of Business & Administration provides students and faculty members with a wide spectrum of learning and research platforms to build a distinct competitive edge in the ever-changing business world. Its various professional programmes equip students with not only conventional theories but also practical knowledge in business. Exposure and training opportunities, including internships, study tours and field visits, are arranged to develop students’ potential in the professional world and the community. This past year, all full-time students received sponsorships from various funding sources and award schemes to participate in study tours in mainland China and overseas. They also completed local or overseas internships in different business fields. Some had the opportunity to work in renowned companies and government authorities such as Deloitte and KPMG, which sit among the Big Four accounting firms, the Treasury of the HKSAR Government, the Hospital Authority and the Employers’ Group of the European Economic and Social Committee in Belgium. Employers commented highly on the performance of these students, many of whom received return offers after graduation.

Apart from applying practical knowledge to work, students have participated and excelled in different competitions with their entrepreneurial and social responsibility mind-sets. These included the Corporate Governance Paper Competition 2015 by the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries, the Enactus Hong Kong Regional Competition 2016, the Management Presentation cum CSR Challenge in the HSBC Financial Dialogue Series 2015 and the Help You to Start Your Business Competition by the Hong Kong Computer & Communications Festival 2015.

The School values research as much as student developments. In 2015/2016, it achieved a 40% success rate in the RGC Competitive Research Funding Scheme for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector (Faculty Development Scheme) under the panel of Business Studies, compared with the overall success rate of 20% in the panel. To further enhance the research interests and capacity of academics, the Institute of International Business & Governance (IIBG) was established in January 2016 with a grant from the RGC’s Institutional Development Scheme. Six internationally renowned academics have been invited to be Distinguished Professors to lead various scholarly activities. Research activities such as conferences, seminars and workshops will be held, making the IIBG a platform for academics and students to exchange ideas and gain insights about the latest developments of the business fields.
