HKMU 35th Anniversary Pro-Chancellor

Dr Eddy Fong Ching, GBS, JP

It was with great joy that I rejoined HKMU as Pro-Chancellor last year, having previously served as Council Chairman for seven years. It is a true privilege to celebrate the 35th anniversary of this esteemed University alongside members of the University community.

I first joined the then OUHK as a Council member in 2003 and have been fortunate to witness its robust development over the past two decades. Back then, we had just launched our first full-time honours degree programme; today we offer more than 80 full-time postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. The number of academic awards presented at our Congregation has doubled since 2003, from some 4,000 to more than 8,000. And so far, over 150,000 students have graduated from the University, and they are making a difference in their respective fields.

We have expanded our physical presence, too. From one premise to three premises in Ho Man Tin and two more campuses outside the district, our remarkable growth is a testament to the collective efforts of our staff, students, alumni, friends and supporters, past and present.

Thank you for all your support and participation in our journey. Let’s look forward to many more successful and growing years at HKMU!
