HKMU 35th Anniversary President

Professor Paul Lam Kwan-sing, SBS, JP

President

I am thrilled to see the University step into its 35th year. Time truly does fly when you are part of such a dynamic and evolving institution!

From its beginnings as a distance-learning institution, HKMU has continually evolved to meet the changing needs of society and industry. We are committed to providing our students with a quality education that prepares them for their future careers. This is reflected in our industry-oriented curricula, state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, and diverse offerings of out-of-the-classroom learning experiences. As the Government plans to establish “Universities of Applied Sciences”, we are well placed to play a large part, thanks to our focus on professional education and unique self-accrediting status.

Beyond education, we strive to impact society through research and knowledge transfer. We have enhanced our infrastructural support and allocated abundant resources for this mission, and encouraging results in recent competitive grant applications show that our efforts are paying off. I hope to see our research work reveal more practical insights into existing problems and more innovative ideas translated into widely applicable solutions.

Modern society is constantly revolutionising itself, and so is HKMU. We are ready to turn cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to our advantage, equipping our staff and students with all the necessary skills to stay competitive in the fast-changing world.

One thing will always remain constant — our commitment to education of the highest quality and relevance. As we celebrate HKMU's 35 years of excellence, let us work together to keep its momentum going.
