Aims

This course aims to equip students with the fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in management, economics, accounting, and decision-making that are needed for pursuing a master's degree in business administration. It is a course for new students admitted to a business master's programme through the Special Entry Route.

Contents

The course covers the following topics:

  • Managerial decision making
  • Management
  • Marketing
  • Accounting
  • Economics

Contact hours

A total of 90 hours over the course of two terms, consisting of 30 three-hour lectures.

Assessment

The continuous assessment portion of the course accounts for 100% of the total course score. It consists of four assignments (50%), four in-class assessments (40%), and class participation (10%).  Students are required to submit written assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).

Online Requirement

The course is supported by the Online Learning Environment (OLE). Students can find the latest course information from the OLE. Through the OLE, students can communicate electronically with their tutor and the Course Leader as well as other students. To access the OLE, students will need to have access to the Internet. The use of the OLE is required for the study of this course.

Equipment and Software

Students will need access to a personal computer with an Internet connection.
