香港都會大學推動業界學術合作培育建造業人才

香港都會大學(都大)今日(1月20日)與香港建造商會及香港機電工程商聯會簽訂培育建造業人才合作備忘錄,深化在教育方面的長遠合作,加強相關專業知識和經驗的交流,為香港「建造」更美好的未來。

兩份合作備忘錄由都大校長林群聲教授分別與香港建造商會會長林健榮測量師和香港機電工程商聯會永遠會長莊堅烈簽署。簽署儀式邀得香港特別行政區發展局局長甯漢豪擔任主禮嘉賓,與都大校董會主席黃天祥博士工程師共同見證。

甯漢豪局長欣喜看到是次三大機構成為更緊密的伙伴,標誌著學界與業界「雙劍合璧」,充分發揮匯聚資源、集思廣益的功能,共創成果互動合作。

黃天祥主席致辭時感謝香港建造商會及香港機電工程商聯會兩所備受業界推崇的機構的支持。他指出,隨著北部都會區和明日大嶼等大型基建計劃的開展,香港在未來數十年對具專業知識的建造人才將有龐大的需求。

黃主席稱:「本校科技學院建築與品質管理系早於兩年前推出『屋宇設備工程及可持續發展(榮譽)工學士』、『土木工程(榮譽)工學士』兩項新課程,最近更獲『自資專上教育提升及啟動補助金計劃』撥款4,060萬港元,於2024/25學年開辦『建築管理及測量學(榮譽)理學士』課程,可見教育局對本校的支持。」他補充,有鑑於智能建築技術日趨重要,都大也在研究開辦相關的碩士課程。

林健榮會長表示,很高興見證香港建造商會首度與都大合作,並承諾共同推動香港建造業的持續發展。

莊堅烈會長表示,香港機電工程商聯會很高興與都大建立意義重大的合作夥伴關係。他相信業界與學界的合作將促進知識、學問和經驗的交流,並有助提升行業水平。

合作備忘錄將訂立框架為有志投身建造業的年青人提供獎學金、實習津貼、暑期培訓以至畢業後的就業機會,讓他們看見建造業的未來和事業發展前景,增加投身行業的興趣。都大又會提供靈活的學習途徑,為在職從業員舉辦工作坊和培訓課程,推動終身學習。

此外,三方會定期合辦公司參觀和職業講座等活動,幫助學生了解行業實況;也會探討在建築技術研究方面加強合作,並合辦座談會和研討會,以促進創新技術和施工方法的使用,加深學生和公眾對建造業的了解。

Hugo Leung Wai-yin, who graduated from his four-year programme in 2015, won the Best Paper Award for his ‘intelligent pill-dispenser’ design at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering’s International Conference on Consumer Electronics – China 2015.

The pill-dispenser alerts patients via sound and LED flashes to pre-set dosage and time intervals. Unlike units currently on the market, Hugo’s design connects to any mobile phone globally. In explaining how it works, he said: ‘There are three layers in the portable pillbox. The lowest level is a controller with various devices which can be connected to mobile phones in remote locations. Patients are alerted by a sound alarm and flashes. Should they fail to follow their prescribed regime, data can be sent via SMS to relatives and friends for follow up.’ The pill-dispenser has four medicine slots, plus a back-up with a LED alert, topped by a 500ml water bottle. It took Hugo three months of research and coding to complete his design, but he feels it was worth all his time and effort.

Hugo’s public examination results were disappointing and he was at a loss about his future before enrolling at the OUHK, which he now realizes was a major turning point in his life. He is grateful for the OUHK’s learning environment, its industry links and the positive guidance and encouragement from his teachers. The University is now exploring the commercial potential of his design with a pharmaceutical company. He hopes that this will benefit the elderly and chronically ill, as well as the society at large.

Soon after completing his studies, Hugo joined an automation technology company as an assistant engineer. He is responsible for the design and development of automation devices. The target is to minimize human labor and increase the quality of products. He is developing products which are used in various sections, including healthcare, manufacturing and consumer electronics.
