都會大學與香港建造學院簽訂合作備忘錄 加強雙方合作

香港都會大學(都大)今日(12月6日)與建造業議會(議會)機構成員香港建造學院(學院)簽訂合作意向備忘錄,加強雙方學術交流,積極研究合辦兼讀制學士學位課程。

合作意向備忘錄由都大學術副校長關清平教授及香港建造學院院長黃君華博士工程師共同簽署,並由都大校長林群聲教授及建造業議會主席陳家駒見證。

林校長表示:「都大設有土木及環境工程、屋宇設備工程等榮譽學士課程,為社會培育建造業人材,促進行業的發展和優化。而校園內全新的土木工程實驗室和屋宇設備工程實驗室,亦將於本月內及明年初相繼落成,在自資院校的背景上,足以表現出都大為香港工程界貢獻的決心。都大作為一所提供多元學習模式的大學,配合香港建造學院已有超過45年的培訓經驗,是次合作必定能夠為學生提供一套靈活和自主的學習模式,令他們在行業發展上無後顧之憂。」

陳主席致辭時提到2016 年再被委任為議會主席時,已決心改革工人培訓工作,優化課程,成立香港建造學院,與資歷架構和香港教育制度接軌。「學院與都大的教學理念一致,都是有教無類。學院第一屆優化高等文憑課程畢業生可於2024年9月銜接至都大的一般學位課程,而建造專門行業專業文憑課程第一屆畢業生則可於2025年9月銜接至都大學位課程。相信透過我們的合作,較低學歷的建築工友,只要有心機,都可以取得更高學歷,有朝一日成為一位建築學博士,以另一個身份貢獻社會。」

是次為香港建造學院首次與本地大學合辦兼讀制學位課程,雙方將探討為學院高級文憑畢業生銜接都大科技學院學士學位課程的可行性,以及積極研究合辦兼讀制學士學位課程,為香港建造學院「建造專門行業專業文憑」課程的畢業生提供進修途徑。雙方亦會尋求其他合作方案,加強學術及技術交流。

有關香港都會大學:
香港都會大學(都大)前身為香港公開大學,於1989年由政府成立,透過七所教學學院提供不同程度、著重專業及應用的課程以回應社會對人才的需求。大學於2021年9月1日重新命名為「香港都會大學」。新校名適切反映大學在香港都會中獨特的定位,以及展示多年來大學發展的蛻變和未來的策略發展方向。

有關香港建造學院:
為配合香港建造業的改變及進程,香港建造學院(學院)於2018 年成立。學院為建造業議會的機構成員,提供一系列的建造課程(包括全日制及兼讀制課程)供有意從事建造業的年青人、轉業人士與富經驗的從業員就讀,銳意打造一批「知識型」的從業員。

Hugo Leung Wai-yin, who graduated from his four-year programme in 2015, won the Best Paper Award for his ‘intelligent pill-dispenser’ design at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering’s International Conference on Consumer Electronics – China 2015.

The pill-dispenser alerts patients via sound and LED flashes to pre-set dosage and time intervals. Unlike units currently on the market, Hugo’s design connects to any mobile phone globally. In explaining how it works, he said: ‘There are three layers in the portable pillbox. The lowest level is a controller with various devices which can be connected to mobile phones in remote locations. Patients are alerted by a sound alarm and flashes. Should they fail to follow their prescribed regime, data can be sent via SMS to relatives and friends for follow up.’ The pill-dispenser has four medicine slots, plus a back-up with a LED alert, topped by a 500ml water bottle. It took Hugo three months of research and coding to complete his design, but he feels it was worth all his time and effort.

Hugo’s public examination results were disappointing and he was at a loss about his future before enrolling at the OUHK, which he now realizes was a major turning point in his life. He is grateful for the OUHK’s learning environment, its industry links and the positive guidance and encouragement from his teachers. The University is now exploring the commercial potential of his design with a pharmaceutical company. He hopes that this will benefit the elderly and chronically ill, as well as the society at large.

Soon after completing his studies, Hugo joined an automation technology company as an assistant engineer. He is responsible for the design and development of automation devices. The target is to minimize human labor and increase the quality of products. He is developing products which are used in various sections, including healthcare, manufacturing and consumer electronics.
