Alumni Snapshot: Building and developing a brand – sharing from a brand storyteller

Launched by the Alumni Affairs Office and hosted by alumna DJ CPui Lo, the online talk series 'New Perspective for Career Development' for this year was kick-started on 19 July. Alumna Ms Maria Luisa Poon was invited to speak on 'Building and developing a brand – sharing from a brand storyteller' to share on brand building and marketing strategies.

Luisa believed that a brand is not just a logo. It should carry the visions and values of the founder and should be endowed with genuine soul, helping to build meaningful connections with the customers. She suggested developing a long-term plan such as 10 years when building a brand, and splitting into shorter plans like 3 years or 5 years to allow possible adjustments during implementation. To cope with difficulties and worries brought by the pandemic, she showed her sportsmanship in experiencing those adversities optimistically and suggested making better use of the opportunities to get prepared for the challenges ahead. As she states, 'You cultivate industriously when the weather shines, and study diligently when the weather rains.'
