Alumni [Snapshot] Decoding BusineSS – Start and Sustain Business Growth

Hosted by alumna DJ CPui Lo, the second talk of the series was held on 14 September with alumnus Dr Kevin Chan Lai-sin invited to share on starting and sustaining business growth.

Having a steady job in the Government, Dr Chan was determined to look for a brighter future so he stepped out of his comfort zone and later founded the Design Information Centre. Piloting a business is not always smooth sailing and it's even harder for one possessing no professional knowledge of the field. With determination and perseverance, he managed to gain a foothold in the market. Over the decades, he firmly believed that identifying the uniqueness of the company is the key to distinguish itself in the market and stay calm when dealing with copycat competitors. From starting and sustaining growth of a business, much efforts are needed. Apart from keeping a finger on the pulse of society, gaining the support of staff is most indispensable to him. 'All staff are my internal customer. Reinforcing staff members' sense of belonging can enhance the efficiency of work. It was no easy task for business owners to brave the pandemic, and it is teamwork which empowers us to overcome all the adversities.'
