Bid for education platform for Chinese medicine
a success

The OUHK’s Educational Technology and Publishing Unit won the bid to deliver an online education platform on traditional Chinese medicine for the Hospital Authority, which will be modelled on the University’s already established Online Learning Environment for its students.

OUHK-CITA Learning Centre opens

The OUHK-CITA Learning Centre in Lai King was opened on 15 March at a ceremony officiated by OUHK Council Chairman Dr Eddy C Fong, Deputy Council Chairman Mr Edward Cheung, President Prof. John C Y Leong and LiPACE Director Prof. Lui Yu-hon, as well as Clothing Industry Training Authority (CITA) Chairman Dr Lam Tai-fai, Committee on Courses and Equipment Chairman Mr Lawrence Leung and Executive Director Prof. Philip Yeung. The centre covers about 3,000 square metres of space, with classrooms, computer rooms, a design studio and student amenities.


Talk on education by Executive Councillor

The Hon Leung Chun-ying, convenor of Executive Council’s non-official members, came to the OUHK on 1 March to give a talk on the development of Hong Kong tertiary education. He expressed concern over the limited access to higher education for underprivileged young people and encouraged students to go abroad to widen their horizons. The event was jointly organized by the School of Arts and Social Sciences Full-time Social Sciences Programme and the Public Administration and Politics Society.


Students' Union election results and inauguration

Following their success in the election of the third Executive Committee of the OUHK Students’ Union on 12-13 March, members of ‘4 Stones’ started their one-year term of office on 1 April. Their inauguration ceremony on 14 April was officiated by OUHK President Prof. John C Y Leong and attended by Zhang Xueli, Director General of the Youth Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, representatives of student unions of other local tertiary institutions and OUHK staff and students.
