科技学院学生团队夺华为ICT大赛香港站季军

20 Dec 2024 首页  新闻中心 得奖者及课程:刘宇航,电子及计算机工程学荣誉工学士江昊东,计算机科学荣誉理学士马享,计算机科学荣誉理学士比赛:华为ICT大赛2024–2025香港站奖项:Computing赛道季军主办单位:华为技术有限公司详情:三位科技学院学生刘宇航、江昊东及马享组队参与「华为ICT大赛2024–2025香港站」,经过数月在线培训、初赛角逐及多轮专业评审,最终与其他21支队伍晋级决赛,并脱颖而出,在Computing赛道中夺得季军。是次比赛涵盖华为使用的OpenGauss数据库、OpenEuler系统及鲲鹏通用计算平台等硬件及软件的应用教学,让同学能够获得多项技能及了解最先进的技术。香港站赛事亦获共13间大专院校参与,参赛人数突破900。华为ICT大赛是华为公司打造面向全球高校的年度ICT赛事,为高校师生提供国际化竞技和交流平台,提升学生的信息及通讯科技(ICT)知识水平,加强学生的实践能力,并培养他们运用新技术、新平台的创新创造能力。

都大推全港首个宝石及珠宝学应用学位课程

香港都会大学(都大)建筑与质量管理系日前举办「2024 国际宝石学研讨会暨宝石及珠宝学应用学位课程启动礼」,并推出全港首个宝石及珠宝学应用学位课程,致力为本港培育更多宝石及珠宝检测认证、研究和产业发展的专业人才。本港作为全球主要的宝石贸易中心,近年随着新兴市场需求不断增加,宝石行业迎来复苏契机。有见及此,在亚洲宝石学院及鉴定所和业界的支持下,都大推出全港首个以遥距模式授课的宝石及珠宝学应用学位课程,帮助学生掌握专业学科的理论和实践方面的关键知识,响应业界对宝石业人才的专业培训需求。科技学院建筑与质量管理系主任李至冲博士致欢迎辞时,感谢亚洲宝石学院及鉴定所的专业团队、珠宝业界精英、以及校外课程评审员对新课程的全力支持,并就课程设计和教学细节等给予宝贵意见。他说:「这个应用学位课程不仅把宝石及珠宝行业专业人才的培训变得系统化,也进一步巩固本港作为宝石及珠宝教育、检测认证、研究和产业发展的卓越地位。都大将继续积极与不同行业建立紧密联系,让学生透过与业界沟通及实习获得宝贵的经验,了解更多业界最新技术及专业知识。」更多宝石及珠宝学应用理学士课程信息,请按以下链接参阅 课程网页。 Back to Departmental site

Hugo Leung Wai-yin, who graduated from his four-year programme in 2015, won the Best Paper Award for his ‘intelligent pill-dispenser’ design at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering’s International Conference on Consumer Electronics – China 2015.

The pill-dispenser alerts patients via sound and LED flashes to pre-set dosage and time intervals. Unlike units currently on the market, Hugo’s design connects to any mobile phone globally. In explaining how it works, he said: ‘There are three layers in the portable pillbox. The lowest level is a controller with various devices which can be connected to mobile phones in remote locations. Patients are alerted by a sound alarm and flashes. Should they fail to follow their prescribed regime, data can be sent via SMS to relatives and friends for follow up.’ The pill-dispenser has four medicine slots, plus a back-up with a LED alert, topped by a 500ml water bottle. It took Hugo three months of research and coding to complete his design, but he feels it was worth all his time and effort.

Hugo’s public examination results were disappointing and he was at a loss about his future before enrolling at the OUHK, which he now realizes was a major turning point in his life. He is grateful for the OUHK’s learning environment, its industry links and the positive guidance and encouragement from his teachers. The University is now exploring the commercial potential of his design with a pharmaceutical company. He hopes that this will benefit the elderly and chronically ill, as well as the society at large.

Soon after completing his studies, Hugo joined an automation technology company as an assistant engineer. He is responsible for the design and development of automation devices. The target is to minimize human labor and increase the quality of products. He is developing products which are used in various sections, including healthcare, manufacturing and consumer electronics.
