都会大学与香港建造学院签订合作备忘录 加强双方合作

香港都会大学(都大)今日(12月6日)与建造业议会(议会)机构成员香港建造学院(学院)签订合作意向备忘录,加强双方学术交流,积极研究合办兼读制学士学位课程。

合作意向备忘录由都大学术副校长关清平教授及香港建造学院院长黄君华博士工程师共同签署,并由都大校长林群声教授及建造业议会主席陈家驹见证。

林校长表示:「都大设有土木及环境工程丶屋宇设备工程等荣誉学士课程,为社会培育建造业人材,促进行业的发展和优化。而校园内全新的土木工程实验室和屋宇设备工程实验室,亦将於本月内及明年初相继落成,在自资院校的背景上,足以表现出都大为香港工程界贡献的决心。都大作为一所提供多元学习模式的大学,配合香港建造学院已有超过45年的培训经验,是次合作必定能够为学生提供一套灵活和自主的学习模式,令他们在行业发展上无後顾之忧。」

陈主席致辞时提到2016 年再被委任为议会主席时,已决心改革工人培训工作,优化课程,成立香港建造学院,与资历架构和香港教育制度接轨。「学院与都大的教学理念一致,都是有教无类。学院第一届优化高等文凭课程毕业生可於2024年9月衔接至都大的一般学位课程,而建造专门行业专业文凭课程第一届毕业生则可於2025年9月衔接至都大学位课程。相信透过我们的合作,较低学历的建筑工友,只要有心机,都可以取得更高学历,有朝一日成为一位建筑学博士,以另一个身份贡献社会。」

是次为香港建造学院首次与本地大学合办兼读制学位课程,双方将探讨为学院高级文凭毕业生衔接都大科技学院学士学位课程的可行性,以及积极研究合办兼读制学士学位课程,为香港建造学院「建造专门行业专业文凭」课程的毕业生提供进修途径。双方亦会寻求其他合作方案,加强学术及技术交流。

香港都会大学(都大)前身为香港公开大学,於1989年由政府成立,透过七所教学学院提供不同程度丶着重专业及应用的课程以回应社会对人才的需求。大学於2021年9月1日重新命名为「香港都会大学」。新校名适切反映大学在香港都会中独特的定位,以及展示多年来大学发展的蜕变和未来的策略发展方向。

有关香港建造学院:
为配合香港建造业的改变及进程,香港建造学院(学院)於2018 年成立。学院为建造业议会的机构成员,提供一系列的建造课程(包括全日制及兼读制课程)供有意从事建造业的年青人丶转业人士与富经验的从业员就读,锐意打造一批「知识型」的从业员。

Hugo Leung Wai-yin, who graduated from his four-year programme in 2015, won the Best Paper Award for his ‘intelligent pill-dispenser’ design at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering’s International Conference on Consumer Electronics – China 2015.

The pill-dispenser alerts patients via sound and LED flashes to pre-set dosage and time intervals. Unlike units currently on the market, Hugo’s design connects to any mobile phone globally. In explaining how it works, he said: ‘There are three layers in the portable pillbox. The lowest level is a controller with various devices which can be connected to mobile phones in remote locations. Patients are alerted by a sound alarm and flashes. Should they fail to follow their prescribed regime, data can be sent via SMS to relatives and friends for follow up.’ The pill-dispenser has four medicine slots, plus a back-up with a LED alert, topped by a 500ml water bottle. It took Hugo three months of research and coding to complete his design, but he feels it was worth all his time and effort.

Hugo’s public examination results were disappointing and he was at a loss about his future before enrolling at the OUHK, which he now realizes was a major turning point in his life. He is grateful for the OUHK’s learning environment, its industry links and the positive guidance and encouragement from his teachers. The University is now exploring the commercial potential of his design with a pharmaceutical company. He hopes that this will benefit the elderly and chronically ill, as well as the society at large.

Soon after completing his studies, Hugo joined an automation technology company as an assistant engineer. He is responsible for the design and development of automation devices. The target is to minimize human labor and increase the quality of products. He is developing products which are used in various sections, including healthcare, manufacturing and consumer electronics.
