Programme Introduction

The Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Economic and Public Policy Analysis programme is the first undergraduate programme (Only Admit Non-JUPAS Senior Year Entry from 2023 Autumn) in economic and public policy analysis offered by local tertiary institution. It aims to equip students with a solid foundation in economics, politics and public administration with applied orientation. Specifically, it provides students with conceptual knowledge for in-depth analysis of various economic and public policies. It also aims to arouse students' interest in studying economic and public problems and issues pertinent to governance, to familiarise them with the knowledge and skills of conducting research within the discipline, and to analyse public problems of the world and their society.
Hong Kong has undergone numerous economic and political changes over the past decades and corresponding public policies have been formulated to address these changes. Economic and public policy analysis and formulation have become an increasingly important area of professional and career development. The Programme is thus designed in such a way that students will be trained to employ an interdisciplinary approach to analyse economic and public policies and to provide inputs for policy formulation. Students will go through a process of rigorous training in critical thinking, cultural and ethical reflection, and language communication.
