「服务学习」是一种学与教的理念与实践方法将社会服务结合学科知识，让学生透过筹划、执行、反思和评估他们的服务经验，从中学习及成长。

在「服务学习计划」中，同学可根据对社会需要的了解，利用学科知识和技能设计及筹备属于自己的服务学习计划。在实践计划、服务他人的过程中，更瞭解自己所学的专业知识及进行自我反思，达致全人發展。

公开大学拥有范畴广阔的学科，同学可藉此优势与来自不同主修科目的同学进行跨学科的服务学习活动，结合不同学科的知识以提升学习及社会服务的质量。

Through our Service-Learning programmes, students can utilize academic knowledge and skills to design and prepare their own service plans based on social needs. In the process of practical planning and serving others, students could gain deeper insight of their professional knowledge and conduct self-reflection, so as to attain whole-person development.

OUHK provides a wide range of disciplines. Students can take advantages of it to carry out interdisciplinary Service-Learning activities with folks from different majors. The knowledge of different disciplines could then be integrated, and the learning quality and social service could be enhanced as well.
