Amount:Capped at HK$300,000 per awardee or the total cost of the overseas study, whichever is lower. The scholarship covers economy-class return airfare, tuition fees, room and board, as well as a portion of living expenses during their study overseas. Awardees are encouraged to seek additional funding sources to cover expenses not covered by the Foundation. Meanwhile, awardees will receive additional support through a network of past and current scholarship recipients
Number of Awards: The University will nominate up to 1 student for HSBC's consideration. There is no guaranteed award quota for any institutions.
Eligibility:
- Local student (Hong Kong permanent residents with the right of abode in Hong Kong)
- Full-time non-final year undergraduates (Bachelor's Degree)
- Preferred minimum CGPA of 3.7 in the Autumn Term of the current academic year
- Demonstrating a well-rounded profile, showcasing involvement in extra-curricular and community activities
- No extensive experience living or studying overseas
- Be committed to Hong Kong
- In a financial situation that does not permit overseas study or extensive travel overseas
- Strong justifications required to support the choice of the destination university
- Has not previously received the HSBC Overseas Scholarship

Remarks:
- Shortlisted candidates are required to attend an internal interview in the University and an external interview at HSBC. Details will be announced in due course.
- In the same academic year, a student can only be nominated for one of these HSBC scholarships: HSBC HK Scholarship, HSBC Global Scholarship or Innovation & Technology Scholarship.
- Awardees will be invited and are expected to attend the HSBC Scholars Day organised by the donor in July
