宋明炜教授是卫斯理学院东亚语言与文化系的宋美龄讲座教授及系主任，曾任美国比较华文文学学会（ACCL）会长。他的研究领域包括现代中文科幻小说、晚清及民国时期的青春叙事与成长小说，以及张爱玲的生平与作品。他的研究项目聚焦于当代华语小说中的后人类理论与「新巴洛克」美学。他着有多部专著，包括《看的恐惧：中国科幻小说诗学》、《少年中国：国族青春重塑与成长小说（1900-1959）》以及《浮世的悲哀：张爱玲传》。
Professor Song Mingwei is the Mayling Soong Professor of Chinese and the Chair of the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Wellesley College. He was the former President of the Association of Chinese and Comparative Literature (ACCL). His research projects include contemporary Chinese science fiction, the discourse of youth and the Bildungsroman in late Qing and Republican China, and the life and work of Eileen Chang. His research project focuses on the posthuman and the “Neo-Baroque” in contemporary Sinophone fiction. He is the author of several monographs, including Fear of Seeing: A Poetics of Chinese Science Fiction, Young China: National Rejuvenation and the Bildungsroman, 1900-1959, and The Sorrows of a Floating World: a Biography of Eileen Chang.
