Students can self-add courses provided their total credit load remains within the maximum limit after adding the courses.
Add/Drop Period (2026 Spring Term)
Year 3 & 4 students: 12 January 10:00 a.m. to 23 January 5:00 p.m.

Application Result
All applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Approval of an application will depend on the following factors:
- the availability of course places
- the student’s class schedule
- the fulfilment of prerequisite requirements
- the endorsement by the relevant school
Results will be finalized by week 3 of the term (i.e. 2 February 2026). Students whose applications are approved will be assigned to their selected class section, if any or an available class section of the course they applied for. Successfully enrolled course(s) will appear in your ‘Academic Record’ and ‘Class Schedule’ on MyHKMU . Students whose applications are unsuccessful will be notified by email.
Available Course(s)
A list of available courses during the specified term is available here (5-credit / 3-credit-unit). Kindly note that this information is subject to change. Additionally, some courses may not be available for retake students, even if they are offered in the upcoming term. If your intended retake course is not included in the list, you should contact the course-offering School for details.
Credit Load
You may refer to the General Requirement (5-credit system or 3-credit-units system) for the minimum and maximum credit load for full-time undergraduate programmes.
It is also recommended that you review the ‘Advice on Course Selection‘ (or the special study plan provided by the University) before adding course or submit your applications.
Mental Health First Aid course
Please note that Mental Health First Aid course is a mandatory 12-hour course, accredited by the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong. It is compulsory for all full-time undergraduate students admitted via Year 1 entry in or after the 2025/26 academic year. Students who fail to complete this course will not meet the programme requirements for graduation. Enrolment must be completed directly on MyHKMU during the online course selection period.
Distance Learning Options (for 5-credit system only)
Students may consider taking equivalent distance-learning (DL) courses to replace failed undergraduate or sub-degree courses, if applicable. The application process is the same as outlined in method 2 above. Courses offerings in distance-learning mode can be found at: https://admissions.hkmu.edu.hk/dl/courses/. Once you have been approved to take the equivalent DL course(s), you will be notified of the registration process and any applicable tuition fee incurred, via email. Failure to complete registration procedure by the deadline will result in cancellation of your application.
Non-local students
Non-local students must hold a valid student visa / entry permit to take courses at the University. For details on renewing or extending your student visa, please refer to the website for Visa Matters for Continuing Students. If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Team (Undergraduate) at 3120 2589 or via email at regadmug@hkmu.edu.hk.
Tuition Fee
Any tuition fees incurred from adding or dropping courses will be billed via a debit note after the add/drop period. You must settle the balance before the stipulated deadline to avoid de-registration from the University. Further details of tuition fee arrangements can be found on the tuition fees webpage (For students whose courses are under the 3-credit-unit system) or (For students whose courses are under the 5-credit system).
