Biography

Gillian is a dedicated and experienced instructor specializing in Social Sciences and Language Teaching. She holds a Master's degree in Social Sciences from Hong Kong Metropolitan University (2023) and is currently pursuing a second Master's degree in English Language Teaching at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2027) to further refine her expertise. Passionate about education, she also earned a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate from Trinity College, London in 2024.
With a strong background in language instruction, Gillian started her career as an IELTS instructor, eventually rising through the ranks to become a Senior IELTS instructor, leading her own team in developing courses and designing course materials. 
In addition to language teaching, Gillian also has a passion in Social Sciences. She specializes in analysing global dynamics, particularly the evolving relationships between nations and the shifting world order. Following her postgraduate studies in Social Sciences, she worked at the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies, Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), where she was mainly responsible for teaching in Master's-level courses. Known for her inspiring teaching style, Gillian takes pride in her students’ successes- many have expressed gratitude through heartfelt thank-you letters/emails, reflecting the profound impacts she has made on their learning journey.
Beyond teaching, Gillian is an avid researcher with diverse academic interests, particularly in cutting-edge technologies and their societal/ pedagogical impacts. She maintains a strong curiosity about emerging trends in education and often actively incorporates the latest technological developments into her works. Currently, her primary research focuses on exploring the relationship between Generative AI (GenAI) and education. 
Additionally, Gillian is also currently serving as a co-investigator in a funded research project (36 months) on social media and public health with other colleagues, further showcasing her interdisciplinary interests and expertise.
Gillian is active in the community. Currently she is a member of the ICAC Club (Youth Chapter) and Youth Link, Home Affairs Department. She is also an executive committee member of the Hong Kong Society for Asylum-Seekers and Refugees.
