Introduction
Hong Kong Co-parenting and Co-learning Community (the Community) provides life-experience learning opportunities and parenting programmes to children aged 0-6 and their families. Regular courses are themed on, for example, farming, food education, body games, etc.
The core value of the Community lies in the belief that “everyone is unique, equal and worthy of respect”. In order to cultivate empathy and compassion in the next generation, we uphold the spirit of humanistic education, embrace diversity in the development and growth of children, and adopt parenting principles of “no beating, no scolding, no threatening, no intimidating, and no enticing”. Learning is an innate ability, and life-long and effective learning comes from real-life experience. With quality tutors and systematic frameworks of learning content, we strive to engage children in regular study groups with ample opportunities for experiential learning.
The Community also strongly believes that parents are important teachers for their children. Therefore, all regular programmes are designed for parent-child participation. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children and enhance parenting confidence by engaging in reflection and conversation on specific topics. To facilitate parent-child growth, we adopt a growth mindset to formulate co-learning programmes and everyday life.
Team Vision
We hope to work together to create a co-learning environment:
  • A more diversified modes of education
  • Facilitating people-oriented and comprehensive education
  • Connecting and empowering mothers to form self-sufficient communities
  • Realizing the potentials of children, encouraging parents to create a compassionate community, and facilitating personal growth through engaging in dialogue and reflection
What is/are the biggest challenge(s) you have ever faced?
It has been over half a year since the Community rolled out. The concept and mode of operation are still evolving. We are two full-time mothers. Resources and time devoted to the project are limited. At times, we have to give priority to our children, especially when they get ill. Furthermore, due to the change in management, we have to look for a new place for the farm, which is a new challenge we are currently facing.
