Transforming Palliative Care: Symposium Recap

HKMU's School of Nursing and Health Sciences proudly hosted “Symposium on Multidisciplinary Models of Palliative Care” on 5 June, 2025. We were delighted to welcome speakers from King's College London to join us for this impactful event. The symposium brought together a diverse group of nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and NGOs from Hong Kong and the UK.

Professor Catherine Evans opened the event, sharing insights on advancing palliative care since the World Health Assembly Resolution 67.19. Dr. Clare Ellis-Smith discussed strategies to improve access for dementia patients, while Dr. Joanne Bayly explored integrating rehabilitation for those with incurable cancer. Professor Linda Lee introduced a place-based care model supporting older adults from ageing to end-of-life.

This dynamic symposium sparked collaboration and innovation, paving the way for enhanced palliative care. Thank you to all speakers and participants for making it a success! We look forward to continuing our efforts in improving palliative care for all.

The Symposium is funded by the Sino-British Fellowship Trust.
