Are you ready for the Year of Rabbit? Want to know how to use your E-Library for your study? Join the Library webinar “Using E-Library for your study”, you will know more about the E-Library and how to search different types of Library resources via the Library Homepage.

To enhance your understanding of different types of Library resources in the new semester, the Library has prepared a series of webinars on different topics and databases. Representatives of database vendors will be invited to introduce and give demos on using the databases.

No matter you are at home or on campus, don't miss the opportunity for self-enhancement!

Learn and win in the Year of the Rabbit

The Library has subscribed to abundant resources to support your study and research. How much do you know about them? In order to help you get familiar with these useful resources, we will organize an online quiz in the coming February. If you answer all the quiz questions correctly, you will automatically enter a lucky draw and have a chance to win a fabulous gift.

New Library Resources on offer

The Library is glad to introduce the following new online databases to you which may bring added value to your study and research.

Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI)

If you are already a frequent user of Web of Science's various citation index databases, without doubt it would be a great news to you that we now have one more citation index from the Web of Science Core Collection: Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI) added to the Library Collection. Sharing the same platform with other Web of Science citation indexes, you may easily get access to CPCI's two disciplines, Science and Social Science & Humanities, which cover more than 242,000 and 68,000 conference proceedings in science and social sciences & humanities respectively from 1990 to the current year. The database allows you to dig deeper and explore the full impact of the latest, emerging research by using cited reference searching and tracking the influence of papers, authors and conference series. Be a smart researcher, don't miss out and make good use of these indexes to track emerging trends and see how conferences influence your research.

ClinicalKey Student

ClinicalKey Student (Foundation Physiotherapy English Language Package) is an interactive education platform providing rich physiotherapy contents, supported with high resolution images and videos from practical demonstrations or instructional clinical examination examples. With the various helpful learning tools and its “text to speech” function, you may simply study anywhere, anytime. Explore together with another database subscribed by the Library, ClinicalKey for Nursing, let's make the Library your one-stop learning hub before heading into your clinical profession!

Physioplus

Physioplus is a platform for you to learn and develop your professional skills in physiotherapy through online courses and a variety of resources. With the completion of some courses, you may even receive certificates with internationally recognized professional accreditation. Physioplus provides hundreds of trending and newly developed online courses on a broad range of categories for your choice to learn at your own time, with your own pace. What's more? It comes with online access to a selection of books and peer reviewed journals on sports and rehabilitation, manual technique videos and examination tests videos. Sounds impressive? Why not bookmark it as one of your study tools?

Library improvement project and student focus group meeting

A student focus group meeting was held in November 2022 to solicit students’ suggestions on the Space Enhancement Project on 2/F of the Stanley Ho Library in Main Campus. The project is to set-up different zones with modern furniture and three group study rooms to cater for the collaborative learning needs of our students. Participants included students from different Schools, HKMUSU committee members and library staff. During the meeting, the students actively shared their views and suggestions on the design and use of library spaces. Their suggestions have been very useful in the Library's planning for spaces that could best meet our students' different needs.

e-Payment@Library

In order to provide a convenient and efficient payment experience for library users, we are pleased to provide e-Payment service by Octopus Card, Visa / MasterCard credit card (including via Apple Pay / Google Pay), Alipay at the Service Counters of both Stanley Ho Library and Ho Sik Yee Library to replace cash payment. WeChat Pay will also be supported soon. The new digital service makes payment simple and efficient and you are no longer required to bring along cash with you for settling library fees!

3-in-1 identity scanner@self-checkout machine

3-in-1 scanner for HKMU’s identity cards is now installed on the self-checkout machines in the two libraries on campus. Users may log in to their borrower records by tapping their University ID card via smart card or scanning barcode or QR code on the scanner for borrowing library materials. Please come and experience this convenient and self-help service.

Scanning service has been enhanced!

All photocopiers in the two campus libraries have been installed with “Scan to Email” and “Scan to USB” functions. In addition, flatbed scanners are also available. Click here to find out more of our scanning service.

To respect the intellectual work, please be reminded to observe the Copyright Ordinance (Chapter 528, the Laws of Hong Kong) when making scanning copyrighted materials.

Kazuo Inamori book display

Kazuo Inamori (1932-2022) was a famous Japanese entrepreneur. He was the founder of Kyocera Corporation and DDI Corporation (now KDDI). In 2010, at the age of 78, Mr Inamori successfully rescued Japan Airlines (JAL) which was on the brink of bankruptcy.

The Library and the Minerva Society of the HKMU Li Ka Shing School of Professional and Continuing Education (LiPACE) had jointly organized a book club activity earlier. The guest speakers shared their thoughts and experiences in practising the core teaching of Kazuo Inamori. To showcase the teaching and business philosophy of Mr Inamori, from December 2022 to January 2023, the Library organized a book display on a series of books of Kazuo Inamori. These books will be available for users’ borrowing after the book display.

Book displays for renowned authors XiXi (西西) and Erica Li (李敏) will be held in the coming months also. You are welcome to visit our book displays and be inspired by these literary work.
