About SAN

Storage Area Network (SAN) stands for a network which provides data storage for systems through a fibre network. The SAN composes fibre switches and SAN storage systems. Fibre network provides high speed connections so that data I/O throughput could be guarantee and stable. SAN storage systems are commonly designed with dual controllers to provide high availability. In addition, SAN storage systems are with sophisticated features, such as snapshots for fast backup, distributed data block among disks for optimizing I/O throughput, virtualized presentation layer for versatile disk expansion, etc. Currently, Netapp 8200A and Netapp 2552 are the main SAN storage systems in Main Campus.  HPE 3PAR 7400 and Netapp 2750 are the main SAN storage system in Jockey Club Campus and Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare Campus.
