Biography

Dr. William Lai, Chi-Fu is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Creative Arts under the School of Arts and Social Science at the Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU). He is the Programme Leader of the Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Computing and Interactive Entertainment, and the Bachelor of Arts with Honours in New Music and Interactive Entertainment.

Before joining the HKMU, Dr. Lai was a Chief Scientist in the industry, leading research projects on Computer Graphics and Vision applications on Geographic Information Systems and Building Information Modeling. He was a visiting scientist at the Singapore University of Technology and Design. He received his B.Eng. in Computer Science (Minor in Mathematics) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his Ph.D. from the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Dr. Lai is currently active in adopting computational technologies to formulate multidisciplinary applied research, including but not limited to simulated hazard experience and avoidance, MR teaching and learning experiences, and generative AI applications for creative arts.
