HKMU A&SS and the College of Applied Arts and Science at Beijing Union University Sign a MoU to Promote Collaboration in Social Governance, Community Development and Services, Cultural Heritage Preservation, Cultural Creativity, and Digital Humanities Education

A delegation from the College of Applied Arts and Science at Beijing Union University (BUU), led by Professor Chu Guoqing, Secretary of the Party Committee of BUU, and Professor Yang Jitang, Dean of the Institute for Urban and Rural Grassroots Social Governance, visited HKMU A&SS on 19 June 2025. The visit was coordinated by Dr Rebecca Leung, Associate Dean (Administration and Development) of A&SS at HKMU. During the visit, the delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Professor Eva Man, Acting Dean of A&SS at HKMU.  The MoU aims to strengthen academic research and talent development between the two Schools in areas such as social governance, community development and services, cultural heritage preservation, cultural creativity, and digital humanities education, fostering mutual growth and collaboration in these fields. 

As part of the event, representatives from BUU’s Institute for Urban and Rural Grassroots Social Governance and HKMU’s Department of Social Sciences participated in a roundtable discussion titled “Studies on Community Governance in Beijing and Hong Kong and Empowering Community Governance through Culture.” The discussion facilitated an exchange of ideas on issues related to grassroots social governance in Hong Kong.  Additionally, Dr Rebecca Leung and A&SS representatives introduced the BUU delegation to the Digital Art Laboratory, Creative Arts Laboratory and Studios, as well as the Psychology and Behavioural Science Laboratory. These visits provided the delegation with an in-depth understanding of HKMU’s latest achievements in digital humanities education and psychological research.
